So I have to say...New Orleans wins Halloween. After all my years of going there, I can't believe I had never thought to go for my favorite holiday! Everyone was dressed in costume, having fun, enjoying the weather (even though it was still surprisingly hot, even for them), and looking at the decorated houses. It was just terrific. Definitely a holiday I would recommend people visit for.
My friends and I also went to Voodoo Fest, but I didn't bring my camera so you won't see any photos from that here. That was fantastic also! Lots of space for us to move around, not that crowded, people were friendly, etc. I would definitely do again, but probably next time I'd go when there was someone I really wanted to see. The headliner was the Arcade Fire, who were excellent, but I think next time I'd go for someone I was dying to see.
The photos from this slideshow were all taken by me (except for the one OF me, which was taken by my good friend Kelley King), on my new Lumix GX-85 Micro 4/3 camera. I was so excited to take the camera on the trip, because other than using it here and there, I hadn't used it for a solid period of time at all. I still can't get over how beautiful the video with stabilization is. The only issue with the photos I've encountered is that although lines looked lined up in the viewfinder when I was taking the photos, many turned out to look a bit off when I went to edit. Now, it could just be the New Orleans architecture, so I'll have to continue playing with it. But I love the camera, and would definitely recommend (I actually got it after a co-worker showed it to me and I loved it!)!
Enjoy my Halloweekend in Nola!
